You're managing a small business, and you need help with a blog, email, landing page or website blurb - who do you turn to?

Writers come in many shapes, sizes and flavours! This can make it seem tricky to select the best option for your needs. If this hits a nerve, then the following guide should be very welcome. We'll explain the two disciplines in broad, basic terms to leave you in no doubt as to which is which...

Content Writing

If content writing were a human, it would be dressed in casual clothing. This character would sit down with you and chat over a drink, telling stories. They'll inform, entertain and build long-term trust over time. Think of things like blog posts, guides, articles and those emails that don't try to sell you products and services (at least, not in the beginning). The concept behind this is to provide engaging content that keeps readers curious and - hopefully - coming back for more. That, in a nutshell, is mostly what content writers handle.

Copywriting

This person would be dressed in a sharp suit, with a smooth, professional appearance. They'd shake your hand firmly and offer a friendly smile, exuding confidence. Their job is to win you over and convince you to take specific action. It's all about persuasion. This is the kind of content you'll find in sales emails, adverts, taglines and landing pages, and each one will be nudging the reader towards buying, subscribing or clicking on that button.

In essence, content writing helps build relationships, while copywriting seizes the moment.

So, you now have a better idea of which one you need. And the good news is that we can help you with both!
